Here comes the last newsletter of 2010.
First, this is an opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and to nicely end up with this year, also to offer you fresh news from Phocea.
Besides, we would like to congratulate our last GoPro session candidates for their success. With a total of 17 new certified Instructors, that has been the biggest IDC session we have ever scheduled. And we would like to welcome the new candidates who are now working on the Rescue Diver course.

This end of year is also remarkable for the Technical Dive courses we have performed. Since October, we have performed 4 Full Cave sessions, 2 Tec Deep sessions and 1 Trimix session.
And, you will read farther the big changes of Phocea that has been entirely redesigned, as always, in order to offer you as much as quality service for your next vacation.

To end up with this year and start the new one remarkably, we have organized new projects we had in mind to give you more...
More Quality : we have moved, we are now in a more adapted and designed pace for diving. The purpose , ensure you exceptional holidays. Booking with us, you will be accommodated in a new hotel. The Plaza Hotel, slightly farther from the beach but not so much either, will offer you relaxing time, still a few meters away from the frenzy 5th Avenue and a few steps away from the turquoise Caribbean Sea.

For the diving part, you can enjoy now a cloakroom to put on your suit with more comfort as well as large racks where you can leave your clothes ans stuff safely in a dry place. You have now showers to rinse after you visit to the Caribbean fishes.
Regarding the organization, we have kept the box system that we prepare the day before for you. Our new space is ventilated 24h a day, allowing you to have your aquipment dry quickly.
More Service : We have remodeled our shop with some space dedicated to our partner Aqualung. Our whole team has participated to a regulators maintenance and repair training and other pieces of equipment from Aqualung.
Moreover, if you were thinking about participating to a course, the « new » Phocea has now 3 class rooms totally equipped to offer you a more pleasant learning as well as a more personalized and professional service.
More Courses : If 2009 was the year of the development of the GoPro project with the IDC sessions, 2010 will definitely be the Tec courses year. Full Cave (underground diving), Tec Deep (deep dive with accelerated decompression) and Trimix. This year, more than 25 divers got trained with us on this kind of courses. We are actually the only structure in Mexico that can provide you as many as different courses. From the Discover Scuba Diving to the several Instructorship levels, without forgetting the Tec and Full Cave courses.
More Dive : Always on the search of new experiences, we struggle to offer different diving spots each time you come. Depending on your level and experience, we obviously can offer you Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Cenote dives but also underground and water explorations, Trimix strolls on the deep wall cliff, « El Cantil » between Cozumel Island and the continent. And depending on the season, we also offer lifetime experience such as diving with around fifteen Bull sharks, swimming with the biggest fish in the world, the Whale sharks or also admiring Sail fishes hunting.

This end of the year is a great success for the PRO branch of Phocea Mexico.
Indeed, since the first schedule of our Instructor Development Course sessions in 2008, this November session has been the most important one, speaking of the number of candidates.
A total of 17 people have been trained during 3 weeks on different levels of Instructorship, from the Assistant Instructor to the IDC Staff Instructor. |

The whole pedagogical team, made of Rex Davenport, Koen Wouters directe by our Course Director Camille Laquerrière, is very proud of of the November session incomers and wishes them many great bubbles everywhere on Earth.
As for this last session, 2010 is an entire success for the professional courses. Indeed, for these last 12 months, Phocea and its team have certified :
- more than 30 Divemaster
- more than 55 Assistant Instructors, IDC Staff Instructors and OWSI
- more than 150 Specialty Instrucors (Nitrox, Deep Dive, Underwater Photography…)
Among thes instructors, most of them imediately found a job after the course and live all over the world : Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Mauritius Island, Eastern Island, Florida, Australia, Tahiti, Corsica...
We have also been pleased to know that one of our anciant IDC Staff Instructor candidate, who, afterwards, has worked with us, has become Course Director this year. Regarding the IDC Staff Instructors that participated to these last sessions, most of them finishes this year with the Master Instructor status.
Speaking about recognition, we also want to congratulate the Phocea Mexico Course Director, Camille Laquerrière who has received a reward for the « Excellence » of his work as an Instructor Trainer. The accomplished work this year will grant him for the consecutive second time the prestigious title of « Platinum course Director », what makes him one of the few most recognized course directors in the world. |

To start the year and be able to favorably answer to a more and more important demand regarding the Divemaster and Instructor courses, we have scheduled 8 sessions along the year, including a session during summer for those who cannot really take time to do it out of school holidays.
To offer you more study comfort, we are now working on the layout of 3 new class rooms, including one exclusively reserved for the GoPro sessions.

Each room will be equipped with video and audio facilities and the latest pedagogical PADI material to ensure you thest studies according to standards and technology.
For 2011, we have decided to richenour professional courses to give more knowledge and value on the job market. That is why we have integrated an Aqualung seminary on the equipment maintenance and repair during our IDCs.
For the first time in 5 years, Phocea will have a stand dedicated to professional courses and trainings at the Paris Internationan Dive Showroom From January the 14th to the 17th.
So, do not hesitate to visit us, to say hi or grab some information.
We are also preparing a huge surprise for the first 2011 quarter but we can say no more for now.

In Phocea Mexico, this year has been rich in evolution, change and making better in order to constantly offer a bette service at all levels, and regarding tec diving, why would we do different ?! The beginning of the year has been rather quiet regarding technical courses, bur our fame in recreational diving followed us, we have made some of you nosy about these specific aspects of diving.
Since June, the number of these courses, especially for underground diving has just increased, offering answers to different expectations :

Some of you stopped at the first underground diving certifications to enjoy the cenotes safely, other ones have participated to the entire course in order to make it on the local market, or just for passion, and even both…. And knowing that many of them went on practicing the techniques and skills we had worked on is the evidence of sharing our passion.
For the deep aspect, more and more people have worked on training to safely overpass their limits, to get more knowledge and to go on the underwater learning process.
The increase of these courses has leaded our structure to invest in technical diving equipment, and we are now proud to be able to provide you brand new and top quality gear in order to make the learning process easier and safer, and to make your luggage lighter too.
We have had more and more demand on these courses, we have now the equipment. What else ? Just a second technical instructor in order to offer different courses at the same time.
We have magnificently finished the year with a Trimix course offered at the same time of a Full Cave course
If I were you, I would not think 2011 will be less keen on change, on the contrary, looking for diversificate our offers and remain at your listening, we have already begun to offer side mount trainings and we have many more ideas. But, be patient...
